At Stake Magazine Launches!

Welcome to the brand new At Stake Magazine! We thought we would start with some introductions, help you get to know us a little better. So, who are we?

MIEKE TRUDEAU

Born and raised in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, Mieke moved to the United States with her dancer husband Mark in 1981. Mieke and Mark own a Pilates studio in Washington DC and have raised three amazing sons. With an educational background in art and theater; Mieke is an artist at heart and particularly enjoys drawing and taking photos. Her passion is in finding good stories, whether they are told through photos, art, theater, movies or television. Her approach is as a critic but also a fan. Analysis is her game.

STACEY GILLARD

Born and raised in the south-west of England, Stacey moved to Vancouver, Canada in 1999 and became a Canadian citizen in 2007. Her passion since childhood has been travel. She has visited every continent except for Antarctica and has built a 20+ year career in the travel industry. She has a great affinity for animals, volunteering with a local wildlife rescue association on the weekends. Her favorite television shows are Supernatural and Psych, although she enjoys a variety of others, especially genre TV. She is also a life-long fan of sports, cheering on the Toronto Blue Jays, Vancouver Whitecaps and Vancouver Canucks at every opportunity.

Mieke and Stacey  have known each other for several years, originally connecting through Twitter and their mutual love for Supernatural, but becoming firm friends very quickly. They previously wrote for another magazine and are thrilled to be able to build on their own vision. They will be bringing an eclectic collection of pop culture and lifestyle articles, covering television shows, movies, art and music, writing about their world travels and bringing in guest authors to talk about such things as health and fitness, video games and graphic novels. They are also excited to have Stacey’s sister, Kerry, on board to share her insightful book reviews.

We hope you bear with us as we build the site. Eventually we will have an option to contribute to At Stake because we’d love for some of you to offer your own views and opinions. Of course, we will always welcome comments on our articles and we look forward to hearing what our readers have to say.

Thank you for coming on this journey with us, now let’s get this show on the road!
